Since 1983, Trafotek's current and voltage solutions have helped to keep industrial plants in Finland and elsewhere working, cruisers sailing and power plants running n 1975-76 Sponsor Oy, a development company that was at the background of Trafotek Oy's establishment, bought out all the larger small transformer manufacturers in Finland. In 1979, a company called Me-Ra in Helsinki and another one named Sähkösepät in Turku were merged to form Trafotek Oy. In the 1980's, the operations were centralised as Sponsor went out of the component industry. The company was then divided into various businesses, each with their own field of special know-how. Trafotek Oy concentrated on the manufacture of power transformers and has been working as an independent, family-run business since 1983.
