Albany started making gear pumps in London over 100 years ago, but the factory was destroyed in the second world war and now operates from a well equipped plant in the West of England near to Bristol. In recent years Albany has acquired five gear pump competitors in the UK and expanded its presence in niche markets. In 2000 Albany has expanded into the manufacture of twin screw pumps with capacities to 300m³/hr and above by purchasing Stothert & Pitt pump designs which also brings heavy duty internal lobe pumps and large centrifugal pump designs to Albany.
