Grabs for Bulk Handling made in Germany The company was founded in 1972 as an engineer office and consulting company, specialized in constructions of grabs (main business) and nearly all kind of bulk handling equipment. In the beginning was only construction and sales. The manufacturing of all appliances took place at well known companies in Northern Germany. In 1985 an own workshop was founded and since that time the company is named ORTS GmbH Maschinenfabrik. Worldwide unique special constructions are e.g. a swimming oil- salvage grab for recovering row-oil from the water- surface (after ship- accidents).

The clamshells of electro- hydraulic grabs become open and close with hydraulic cylinders. The drive- unit for this is an electro- motor with hydraulic pump. The drive- unit of the grab needs an electrical power- supply from the crane over a cable.
Diesel- hydraulic grabs

The clamshells of radio controlled diesel- hydraulic grabs become open and close with hydraulic cylinders. The drive- unit for this is a diesel- motor with hydraulic pump. The commands are given by the crane driver over a radio control to the grab.

Mechanical rope grabs become open and close over ropes direct from the crane. The system is like block and tackle. According to the crane type there are different types of mechanical rope grabs.
